SAN DIEGO, August 19, 2020 – LS Power today unveiled the largest battery energy storage project in the world – Gateway Energy Storage. The 250 megawatt (MW) Gateway project, located in the East Otay Mesa community in San Diego County, California, enhances grid reliability and reduces customer energy costs.

The new system features 700 Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries from AESC, a company in which Envision holds a majority stake. The world's highest energy density grid-scale battery storage system is housed in a standard 20-foot container.

A company representative mentioned that in 2023, Envision set a new standard in energy density with its 20-foot container, 5 MWh battery energy storage system. The latest capacity breakthrough was made possible by the use of large-capacity cells, system integration, compact design, and further optimization within the container.

Their latest system, equipped with 700 Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries from AESC (in which Envision has a major stake), delivers more than 8 MWh, exceeding prior achievements.
