Seasonal heat storage presents a promising solution for addressing the temporal mismatch between heat demand and supply by collecting solar heat during summer and distributing it in winter. Optimal conditions for seasonal heat storage are found in regions with high winter heat demand and abundant summer solar radiation.
It reveals that the most suitable regions for seasonal heat storage are primarily located around the latitudes of 45° north and south. CATBs are promising, considering their superior performance and adaptability for seasonal energy storage.
Further combining the inherent attributes of high ESD and low heat loss, the CATB becomes a promising solution for seasonal ST energy storage to address the temporal mismatch between heat demand and supply, especially for people located around the latitudes of 45° north and south.
Latent heat storage 47,48,49 typically sets the heating temperature near the phase change material's melting point to maximize the benefits of the phase change process. In open ATBs, 50,51 the heating temperature is constrained by the low water vapor pressure in winter ambient air.
