During this presentation, I just say supercaps. Then there are different types, hybrid, pseudo, or double layer capacitors.
The right measurement shows the backup mode. The energy stored in the supercaps provides a regulated 3.9 volt output with a 300 milliampere constant current load for longer than 100 seconds. The last reference design shows a backup power supply with active cell balancing and it introduces basically an offline single stage supercap charger.
Let's now discuss three different backup power supplies that are designed for electrical meters.
