In general, the applications of battery management systems span across several industries and technologies, as shown in Fig. 28, with the primary objective of improving battery performance, ensuring safety, and prolonging battery lifespan in different environments . By identifying and mitigating unsafe operating conditions, the BMS ensures the safe operation of the battery pack and the connected device. It prevents overcharging, over discharging, and thermal runaway. To maintain uniformity across individual cells, the BMS incorporates a cell balancing function.
