How long does it take to connect the inverter of Sao Tome and Principe s communication base station to the grid

According to data from the International Renewably Energy Agency (IRENA), Sao Tome and Principe did not have any grid-connected solar generation capacity installed at the end of 2021. The World Bank says Sao Tome and Principe has an electricity access rate of around 76%, with 92% of the total coming from imported diesel.

Cleanwatts told pv magazine that it started developing 1.1 MW at Sao Tome airport and 300 kWp at Principe airport in August. It expects to complete the arrays by the end of this year. Another 300 kWp will be installed next year at other communities in Sao Tome.

Further comments indicate that some European countries require 3 minutes and Australia requires 1 minute. The inverter has a software delay. This is intentional. It waits 5 minutes to make sure it is connected to a stable grid. An inverter could theoretically connect and go full power in seconds. But it doesn't.

As per my observations and experience, 30 to 60 seconds time is sufficient to synchronization of solar grid inverter to connect with grid and export power to grid. The time 30 secs to 60 secs are required for monitoring grid voltage, frequency and phase and estimate angle i.e to satisfy phase lock loop function to sync with grid.

The standard does not directly address it, but from a lab perspective, common practice is to have the inverter wait a minimum of 5 minutes after the Area EPS steady-state voltage and frequency have been restored. Further comments indicate that some European countries require 3 minutes and Australia requires 1 minute.

Most people prefer the series connection from on-grid panels because it significantly increases the voltage received by the grid inverter. To do that, you should connect the first panel's positive terminal to the second panel's negative terminal, which connects to the third panel's positive terminal and continues the process.
