Photovoltaic (PV) glass is a glass that utilizes solar cells to convert solar energy into electricity. It is installed within roofs or facade areas of buildings to produce power for an entire building. In these glasses, solar cells are fixed between two glass panes, which have special filling of resin.

The main difference between photovoltaic glass technologies and traditional solar photovoltaics (PV) is that the newer panels are built into the structure rather than being added on top, which provides an incentive for users concerned about balancing aesthetics and functionality.

With global attention on environmental protection and energy efficiency steadily rising, the demand for solar photovoltaic glass in both commercial and residential construction sectors has significantly increased. The desire to reduce energy costs and carbon footprint has driven the widespread adoption of solar photovoltaic glass.

The initial development and utilization of solar cells using glass, soon gained attention from countries like the United States and Japan, thereby accelerating the research, development, and application of low-iron, ultra-thin glass for solar energy purposes. The photovoltaic cells in the glass are made up of layers of silicon that have been treated with impurities to create a positive and negative charge. When sunlight hits the glass, the silicon absorbs the energy and generates an electric current.

These three products have entirely different characteristics and functions, leading to significant differences in their added value. Currently, the most widely used photovoltaic glass is high-transparency glass, known as low-iron glass or extra-clear glass. Iron in ordinary glass, excluding heat-absorbing glass, is considered an impurity.
